Do you love to be active but are short on time?  Getting in a great workout doesn’t mean you have to be at the gym for long periods of time or even AT the gym at all!

There are tons of great quick workouts that you can do to maximize your time and performance in the gym.

When you are doing your workout, the best way to have the most impact is actually not the treadmill.  Most people think they have 30 minutes, let’s burn tons of calories!  Actually, your best bet is to skip the treadmill and go hit those weights!

Strength training helps you to build lean muscle.  The more lean muscle you have, the higher your metabolic rate.  This means that when you are at rest you’re burning MORE calories just because you have more muscle.  It takes more energy to prevent muscle catabolism, therefore it requires more calories!

If you want a sure fire way to scorch calories while build muscle, go for a total body workout 3-4 days a week and hit all muscle groups each time you go.  You can also incorporate some plyometric moves like jumps or explosive movements or high heart rate sprints or jump rope to incorporate a cardio balance to improve your cardiovascular system!

There are many resources available for total body workouts.  I suggest talking to a personal trainer that you trust and perform some sessions with them to improve your fitness level and skill before doing it on your own!
